Crebilly Farm Update 1/25/21

Dear Friends,

A very happy new year to all of you and thank you, truly, for your continued attention to the unknown fate of Crebilly Farm, land of the Brandywine Battlefield and a priceless Chester County icon.  It is a new year to continue the quest for the best possible outcome for Crebilly Farm, our surrounding community and preservation of our national history- all threatened by this pending development if granted Conditional Use by the Westtown Township Board of Supervisors.  No matter what you hear or what anyone says to you- this is not over; we are still in the game.  No party involved has a crystal ball that can predict the future.  So, we shall keep going.

Please make the commitment to attend Conditional Use hearing #8 virtually:

TOMORROW, TUESDAY, JANUARY 26TH, 7PM

For those attending via zoom, please be reminded unless you disengage your computer camera, the rest of us can see you.  We can see you we can see you.   If you do not know how to do this, just tape a piece of paper over your camera and you should be good to go.

To help explain where we are at this time and perhaps reiterate to others, the agreement of sale between Toll Brothers and the owners of Crebilly Farm is contingent upon Conditional Use approval by the Westtown Township Board of Supervisors.  When the current Conditional Use hearings are completed, the BOS will vote whether to grant Conditional Use to the developer, or not.  The board cannot vote ‘no’ without legal justification.  It could be several more months before the voting occurs.

If you care about our Chester County land, national history, nature and healthy waterways, or if you are concerned about our already overwhelmed local infrastructure with regards to traffic, schools, first responders, hospitals, stores, etc… then you need to participate in supporting Westtown Township by attending the Conditional Use hearings.  If we the people do not stand in support of the township and continue to say ‘NO!’ in whatever ways we can, the BOS will have no reason to vote ‘NO!’ to this unacceptable and thoughtless development.  If approved, the magnitude of this development will forever change far beyond just Westtown Township.  Please continue to do what you can within your own sphere of influence by participating tomorrow night and contributing to the best possible outcome for Crebilly Farm and the surrounding community.

If not you, then who?

Sincerely,

Mindy Rhodes

  1. Thank you so much Mindy, for your hard work and dedication to this cause! It feels like 2 lifetimes that we have been fighting Tolls Brothers to save this land. I know a majority of it began when the 926 tract was sold, and my family and I were forced to move to the New Street house. I visit when I can from Georgia where the same is happening here now. It makes me sick seeing all the new housing developments and road expansions. It also makes it hard to remember what it looked like when we were still living on the farm in 1997. We all do our part here to stay in the loop, and I have friends that keep informed. Keep up the fight, NEVER GIVE UP!!!
