Crebilly Farm Update 2/28/21

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your participation at last Tuesday’s hearing.  About a hundred people were in attendance via zoom, many of which were couples, and that number remained pretty consistent throughout the evening.  Nice work!  Unfortunately, the Chair of the Board of Supervisors forgot about the hearing but hopefully someone will remind her of the next one.

Speaking of which, please mark your calendars for the next Conditional Use hearing #10, to be held virtually:

TUESDAY, MARCH 23rd, 7PM

A reminder about public comment and party status.  Public comment will occur at the very end of all of the hearings (we do not know when that will be).  Anyone, no matter where you live, may speak at public comment.  Those with party status (living in close proximity to the proposed development) have had opportunity to ask questions during the whole hearing process.  If you have a question and do not have party status but know someone who does, you can always reach out to them to ask the questions for you.

By now you know these hearings are to decide whether Westtown Township will grant ‘Conditional Use’ to the applicant (Toll Brothers) or not.  In order to be granted Conditional Use, the applicant must prove their proposed development will not have more of a substantial impact than any other ‘like’ development.  There are currently two different development plans being discussed for Crebilly Farm (why I do not know) and sometimes discussions bounce back and forth between the two, which has been terribly confusing, to say the least.  The first plan is the Crebilly II Conditional Use Application.  The second is the Alternate Conceptual Plan.  During last Tuesday’s hearing, testimony was presented by traffic expert Al Federico, on behalf of the Westtown Township Planning Commission.  Mr. Federico clearly stated with regards to both plans:  the applicant has not met the burden in either case.

I realize this huge burden of deciding the fate of Crebilly Farm is not what most have signed up for, let alone during a global pandemic.  Thank you to the township staff, court reporter and solicitor Patrick McKenna for their continued patience and hard work during the zoom hearings and calmly navigating endless technical challenges.  We must keep going, do our very best and see this through to the end.
