Crebilly Farm Update 1/15/24

Dear Friends,

Hello and Happy New Year… hard to believe it is 2024.  I’ll get right to it.  Tomorrow night, Natural Lands will give an update regarding the remaining funding for the preservation of Crebilly Farm. You may find more details below.  In a nutshell, Natural Lands is hoping to receive one more federal grant before closing the final gap with local fundraising.  I hope we find out Tuesday about the grant and what work is left to be done.  The deadline of the agreement of sale between the Robinson family and Westtown Township is March 31st, 2024 which means the acquired funds need to be completed by Natural Lands by that date.  To my knowledge (and someone please correct me if I am wrong) as long as all parties are in agreement, it is not uncommon for an extension to be granted.  This has happened once already.  So all in all, I’d say the ball is on the ten-yard line with 3 more downs.  Clearly, this game is being played better than the Philadelphia Eagles.

For those interested, you may attend the following public, BOS workshop:

TOMORROW, TUESDAY, JANUARY 16th, 6:15pm

Westtown Township building:  1039 Wilmington Pike, West Chester, PA  19382

Here is the link to the workshop agenda, which includes the link to access remotely if you cannot attend in person:

In closing, I appreciate the very long road traveled to reach this point and the countless efforts made by so many.  I have no doubt Natural Lands will acquire the necessary funds to close the preservation deal with Crebilly Farm.  In fact, as recently as this Summer, Natural Lands graciously shelved about a half a million-dollar, vast renovation project for Stroud Preserve that included a new boat launch and bridge repairs.  I remain cautiously optimistic and truly believe that ball will make it into the end zone.

So please keep the faith.  Do not panic.  And most of all, thank you again, dear Robinson family, for this incredible opportunity.

If not you, then who?

Sincerely,

Mindy Rhodes

  1. Is there a place to see exactly how much of the land, buildings, etc. were ultimately included in the Natural Lands presentations/proposals.

Somehow figuring it out as it has changed, I believe, on different occasions.

    Thanks.
