Crebilly Farm Update 1/5/19

Dear Friends,

I find it hard to believe these emails began in the Fall of 2016 and it is now 2019.  Even more amazing is that you are still reading them- thank you, truly- for your continued attention to something so important.  I am reaching out to let you know there is no new news at this time.  That said, I assure you, we are all still in this game, together.

Here is a brief recap of where we stand at this time:

*October 1st, 2018, Judge Tunnell upheld the decision of the Westtown Township Board of Supervisors to deny Toll Brothers Conditional Use application in Chester County Court of Common Pleas

*Toll Brothers has now appealed to the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court; their brief was due to be filed on or before December 24th.

*Once filed, Westtown Township has 30 days to file their own brief

*Once all briefs are filed, the PA Commonwealth Court will set a date and time for oral argument; it is likely this will take many months.

*Arguments will be held in Harrisburg or Philadelphia

I don’t know about you, but I stopped making new years resolutions long ago.  At some point I decided I was just setting myself up for failure.  I still love the new year for so many reasons… a break from outdoor responsibilities, which can bring a little more free time… a cozy blanket in front of the fire… football… and of course there is always cocoa and peppermint schnapps.  For me, it is a good time of year to reflect, question my priorities, assess where I have been, what I have learned and where I want to go.  Year after year, I find myself coming back to many of the same things:  connect others, share a good meal, keep it simple and stand up for what I believe.

Our quest to preserve the integrity of Crebilly Farm and potentially foil a permanent disaster that compromises our national history, county and community, matters.  Our continued actions and resilience has the power to dictate positive change for a better outcome.  Please continue to reach out to Westtown Township with encouragement and gratitude.  They had the courage to say ‘NO’ to the dragon.  Together, we have defied the odds and come further than I think anyone ever expected.  We must keep going.  We must not give up.  We must see this through.

I will be in touch again down the road.  Until then, may your new year be filled with warmth, delicious food, lots of color, comfort and loved ones.

Lastly- may the Eagles cream Chicago tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Mindy Rhodes
